Have you ever seen something for the first time – and then all of a sudden you see it EVERYWHERE?! Maybe a new word or a person. This happens to me sometimes, and there is a term for it: the “recency illusion.” If you have experienced this phenomenon, think about how powerful it is. The new word isn’t trying to sell you anything. It is just there. And suddenly, you can’t stop thinking about it. You are primed to notice it.

This month, I encourage everyone to think about using the recency illusion in your marketing strategy. Be as active and present as you can with the intention not of selling to every person you meet, but for someone to say to you, “I was just hearing about your brand last week!!”
